Our lab studies advanced cultivation systems including greenhouse horticulture and plant factories (vertical farms). Our main research direction is to quantitatively understand the complex interactions among plants, environments, and cultivation systems through system dynamics and modeling & simulation, and to design and optimize production systems based on these insights.

Agricultural biological systems are inherently complex. We first approach poorly understood phenomena through experiments, then iteratively develop our understanding into modeling and simulation. Through this Systems Approach, we conduct a wide range of research from fundamental studies on plant-environment responses to the advancement of production systems.
